My name is Jolene Sheehan and I founded Joy Ethic in April 2019. This Community Interest Company has grown in ways I couldn’t have fully imagined. What started as a simple intention — to help people feel more connected to themselves, to each other, and to something meaningful — has become a weave of projects, partnerships, and creative experiments.
We’ve now directly impacted over 1100 people through our workshops, events and creative projects. It’s been full of joy, learning, and challenge. And honestly, sometimes it’s hard to keep track of it all!
That’s why I’ve decided to use this website as a space to reflect and record. I’ve had this site for years and pay quite a bit annually to keep it live — but most of my updates have gone out via Linktree or social media. I began wondering whether to let it go. But instead, I’m choosing to use it as a living evolving thing: a blog.
This blog is here for a few reasons:
To consolidate learning — so I don’t forget the depth and beauty of the work, or the feedback that has shaped it.
To document Joy Ethic’s journey — so readers, partners, and even I can see the through-lines between our values, our offers, and the impact we’ve made.
To build connections — with people who might resonate with what we do, or want to work together in future.
To support others — my hope is that this reflection might bring in meaningful, paid opportunities not just for me, but for other brilliant facilitators.
To emotionally process the work — there’s often so much happening that I don’t get time to reflect properly. Writing it down helps.
To use content wisely — I’ll be expanding on some of the things I post on Instagram and Facebook here, and turning blog posts into social snippets too.
To share the backstory — not just of projects, but of the energy and ethos behind this social enterprise.
Joy Ethic isn’t just a business — it’s a way of living and asking questions. What does a joy ethic look like in practice, this year? What does it mean to offer wellbeing in a way that’s real, inclusive, and rooted in lived experience?
Each post will be a window into a strand of Joy Ethic’s work — from walking groups to radio shows, storytelling workshops to wellbeing days — and the people who make it all matter. It will also be a record I can look back on when I need to remember the why, or show someone what we do.
If you're curious about what we offer, you can explore more via our Linktree.
Thanks for being here,Jolene x
